Kristen Jimenez

Kristen Jimenez (formerly Kristen Whelan) was born and raised on the North Fork of Long Island. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA ('05). Throughout her school career, Kristen worked as a florist in NY and Boston. After school, she moved back to NY and used her background in art and her knowledge of plants and flowers to get a job at a local landscape company. She took this opportunity to learn even more about plant material and all aspects of garden care by gaining on-the-job experience and taking numerous courses through the local Cornell Cooperative Extension, including their Master Gardener Program.

"When I worked in the psychology field, I felt that for many, the best therapy would have been to slow down and take time to appreciate the smaller things in life, like a beautiful garden. I honestly feel the best therapy I can give someone is a great outdoor space to enjoy or a wonderful fish pond to sit next to on a warm day. There is something about the marriage of spirituality and science that occurs in a garden that I feel we could all use a little more of."

Today, Kristen has over 25 years of floral design experience and 17 years of landscape experience. "I've always had an eye for great color combinations and interesting textural mixes. It just took me a while to find a canvas I was truly passionate about." Kristen is a licensed contractor and the owner of Bohemian Rose Designs LLC, serving the East End of Long Island, NY (Lic # 49740-H).
