Kristen Jimenez
Kristen Jimenez (formerly Kristen Whelan) was born and raised on Long Island. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA ('05). Throughout her school career, Kristen worked as a florist, both in NY and Boston. After school, she moved back to NY and used her background in all things art, and her knowledge of plants and flowers to get a job at a local landscape company. She used this opportunity to learn even more about plant material and all aspects of garden care by gaining on the job experience, and taking numerous courses through the local Cornell Cooperative Extension, including their Master Gardener Program. "When I worked in the psychology field, I felt that for many, the best therapy would have been to slow down, and take time to appreciate the smaller things in life, like a beautiful garden. I honestly feel the best therapy I can give someone is a great outdoor space to enjoy, or a wonderful fishpond to sit next to on a warm day. There is something about the marriage of spirituality and science that occurs in a garden that I feel we could all use a little more of." Today, Kristen has over 14 years of floral design experience, and 7 years of landscape experience. "I've always had an eye for great color combinations and interesting textural mixes. It just took me a while to find a canvas I was truly passionate about." Kristen is a licensed contractor and the owner of Bohemian Rose Designs (Lic # 49740-H).
Omar Jimenez
Omar Jimenez is the Mason and Head of Construction for Bohemian Rose Designs. He has worked on the North Fork in landscaping and masonry for 7 years. Previous to landscaping, he worked in masonry and construction for both interior and exterior, giving him 16 years of experience working with stone and cement. He has an
incredible eye for rustic garden elements such as rock walls and stone stairways. Omar's work is beautiful and durable. He has gained a reputation for creating unique designs that can stand up to the elements they will be faced with.
